Motorcyclist, 66, seriously injured in crash on Manatee-Sarasota county line

A motorcyclist, 66, was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a crash at the intersection of University Parkway and U.S. 301 on the Manatee-Sarasota county line.

The motorcyclist attempted to make a left-hand turn on a green traffic signal onto University Parkway about 7:476 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

He was hit by a sedan that entered the intersection against a red traffic signal.

The motorcycle and car collided head-on.

The motorcyclist is a Sarasota resident. The driver of the sedan is a 19-year-old Bradenton resident, the FHP press release said.

The crash remains under investigation.
