A 47-year-old Parrish woman is dead after she drove off the road, hitting a sign and three utility poles and flipping over late Sunday afternoon.

At 5:11 p.m., the crash was reported with the driver entrapped in the overturned car, the Florida Highway Patrol said Monday morning. The victim — who was not identified — was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

She was driving west on Old Tampa Road, approaching the left curve west of Chin Road, when she drove off the road into the grassy shoulder on the right-side of the road.

The sedan crashed into a left curve sign support and three wooden utility poles, overturned and came to rest on the grassy shoulder on the north side of Old Tampa Road.

“The crash remains under investigation,” spokesman Lt. Gregory S. Bueno said.
