Crash causes chemical spill on major road near Interstate 75 in Sarasota, officials say
A vehicle crash Tuesday morning sent hazardous chemicals onto a main Sarasota road, prompting a hazmat cleanup, officials said.
The wreck happened around 7:30 a.m. at Interstate 75 and Clark Road in Sarasota.
Hazmat workers cleaned up 9 gallons of hazardous chemicals, Sara Nealeigh, a spokeswoman for Sarasota County Fire Department, told the Bradenton Herald in an email.
Sarasota County Fire Department personnel and the Hazardous Materials team arrived on the site at 8:27 a.m.
Around 9 a.m., the Sarasota County Fire Department crews cleared the scene of the crash and cleaned up the spill.
Nealeigh said there were no injuries that required medical transport.
Florida Highway Patrol also responded to the crash.
