Palmetto man killed in fatal motorcycle crash in Bradenton

A 36-year-old Palmetto man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a turning vehicle on a busy Manatee County roadway over the weekend, the Bradenton Police Department said Monday.

The crash happened at around 3:50 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Manatee Avenue East and 18th Street East in Bradenton.

Police say David A. Williams of Palmetto was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Manatee Avenue at a high rate of speed. A driver in a vehicle was turning south onto 18th Street, crossing the eastbound lanes Manatee Avenue. The motorcycle slammed into the side of the vehicle with enough force to make it overturn.

Williams died at the scene of the wreck. The vehicle driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. Police say no criminal charges are expected.

Anyone with information about the crash can contact Bradenton Police Department at 941-875-2756.
