Motorcyclist dies, 8-year-old injured after car crash on US 41 in Bradenton, FHP says

A 40-year-old Bradenton man died in a motorcycle accident on U.S. 41 Friday afternoon, according to the Florid Highway Patrol.

Around 1:32 p.m., the motorcycle driver was heading south on 14th St. W., approaching 58th Avenue West when another vehicle turned in front of them to enter a parking lot.

Troopers say the driver of a Kia sedan improperly cut off the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to crash into the side of the car.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene. An 8-year-old passenger on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was flown to a local hospital.

Troopers say the 71-year-old Kia driver also sustained serious injuries in the crash.

The fatal crash caused traffic congestion for hours while first responders blocked the southbound lanes to investigate the crash.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
