Woman critically injured after hitting deer on SR 70 in Lakewood Ranch, FHP says

A 57-year-old woman is in critical condition after hitting a deer on State Road 70 on Sunday night.

Just after 7 p.m., the Lake Placid woman was headed east on SR 70 in a sedan, having just passed the intersection with Uihlein Road in Lakewood Ranch, when she crashed into a deer, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The impact caused the woman’s car the flip over into a canal filled with water, FHP said.

She was taken to a hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
