Bradenton man drives over and kills sleeping pedestrian in Manatee County roadway
A pedestrian was killed in a vehicle-related accident early Monday morning in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The Highway Patrol said a 40-year-old unnamed Bradenton man was driving a Chevy pickup truck eastbound on Bayshore Gardens Parkway and approached a slight curve near 62nd Drive West when the vehicle left the roadway into the grassy shoulder area.
At that point, the vehicle ran over a 68-year-old Sarasota man who was sleeping in the grassy area with his belongings and blanket, according to the FHP report.
Manatee County Emergency Medical Services pronounced the unnamed pedestrian dead at the scene, according to FHP.
FHP said its traffic homicide unit is investigating the crash scene.
