2 Bradenton men seriously injured after their SUV hits a tree, catches fire on I-75

Two Bradenton men were seriously injured in a car accident on I-75 in Hillsborough County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. and involved one vehicle. The 29-year-old male driver of a sports utility vehicle was southbound approaching Big Bend Road, near mile marker 246, when he lost control, left the roadway and hit a guardrail, FHP said.

After impact, the SUV was redirected back across the highway to the outside shoulder, where it hit a tree and caught fire, according to the report.

FHP’s report said there was a 27-year-old Bradenton man, who was a passenger, who also sustained serious injuries. Both were wearing a seatbelt, the FHP report said.

Their identities were not provided, and other details were not immediately available.
