Crashes tied up traffic near Interstate 75 and State Road 64 in Bradenton for hours

A vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near the State Road 64 overpass in Bradenton had two southbound lanes closed, according to traffic officials. Injuries are reported.

The first report came in about noon on Friday and the blockage caused major congestion. The two eastbound lanes on State Road 64 reopened around 1 p.m., but the left turn lane onto the freeway remained blocked as of 2:30 p.m.

Preliminary reports from the Florida Highway Patrol include a secondary crash near mile marker 219 that had two southbound lanes on I-75 blocked. That crash also was reported around noon. FHP reported a third crash just before 1 p.m. that blocked one northbound lane near the SR 70 exit.

By 2 p.m., traffic on I-75 was getting back to normal.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
