Stuck in northbound traffic on I-75 Tuesday morning? Here’s why

An early Tuesday morning crash involving a semi truck caused northbound lanes on Interstate 75 in Brooksville to be closed for hours.

Traffic was diverted from the interstate to State Road 50, but according to the Florida Highway Patrol, all northbound lanes reopened around 10 a.m.

The truck in question overturned around 3:30 a.m. and caught fire, scattering debris across all lanes.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, another vehicle was disabled with no lights on in the southbound center lane and the driver of the semi did not see the vehicle.

The truck collided with the Mercedes and the semi driver lost control, crashing through the guardrail and coming to rest in the northbound lanes.

The semi driver managed to escape his truck before it erupted in flames and suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the Mercedes was transported to a local hospital, but is expected to be OK.
