Incidents on I-275 near Sunshine Skyway, I-75 near Parrish caused traffic headaches
Live traffic maps across Manatee County were in the red for a couple hours beginning Friday morning as accidents on I-275 near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and I-75 in Parrish created a virtual logjam.
The crash on I-275 near Exit 2 in the southbound lanes was first reported by traffic officials around 10:30 a.m. and had all southbound lanes blocked for two hours.
About an hour before that crash, a multi-vehicle crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-75 where the freeway meets I-275 in Parrish. That closed down one left lane for three hours.
Both crashes were cleared around 12:30 p.m., but traffic delays lingered from the incidents.
There were no immediate details available related to the crashes as FHP investigates.
Added to the fray was a brush fire along I-75 in Manatee County early Friday that caused a travel advisory to be issued, advising motorists to use caution through the area.
