Lakewood Ranch man, 70, dies in crash

MANATEE -- A 70-year-old Lakewood Ranch man was killed late Thursday in a single-car crash on University Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

About 10:13 p.m., Wallace P. Hough was driving a 2016 Chrysler van east on University Parkway, approaching the intersection with Miramar Way, when the van veered off the roadway into a raised median and struck a tree, according to a news release.

Hough was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, a 70-year-old woman, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of what were described as serious injuries, according to FHP.
