Palmetto man dead following T-bone crash
MANATEE -- A Palmetto man is dead following a T-bone crash in Manatee Wednesday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Russell Cicero, 63, was stopped at 6:54 p.m. at a stop sign eastbound on Terra Ceia Road, according to a release. He was driving a Hyundai Elantra.
A 39-year-old Bradenton man driving a Chevy Silverado was southbound on U.S. 19, approaching the intersection where Cicero was waiting, troopers said.
Cicero did not see the Silverado and started going straight through the intersection, according to the release. The front of the Silverado collided with the left side of the Elantra, and as the Elantra spun from the impact it hit a traffic sign on the east shoulder of U.S. 19.
Cicero was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The other driver was not injured.
No charges will be filed in the crash, troopers said. Neither driver was under the influence of alcohol.
