Parrish woman in critical condition following crash with tractor trailer
MANATEE -- A 26-year-old woman is in critical condition after she failed to stop at a red light and drove under a tractor trailer making a left turn, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Parrish woman was approaching the traffic light for the entrance to Interstate-75 southbound from U.S. 301 at 2:06 a.m., according to a release. She was driving a Chevrolet Impala.
A tractor trailer driven by a 26-year-old man was waiting to make a left turn at the light from the opposite direction. The driver told troopers that the left turn signal turned from red to green and he started making the turn when the Impala failed to stop at its red light and drove underneath his trailer.
Troopers said there were no skid marks in the roadway. The woman was taken to Blake Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
It is unknown if the crash was alcohol related, according to the report, and charges are pending.
