Gas leak shuts down U.S. 41 in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A portion of U.S. 41 was shut down Monday morning after a construction crew hit a gas line, according to the Emergency Communications Center.

About 10:04 a.m., a construction crew working at the intersection of 60th Avenue West and U.S. 41 hit a gas line, causing a gas leak in the area, according to dispatchers.

U.S. 41 was shut down between 57th Avenue West and 60th Avenue West in both directions. Dispatchers were unsure of how long the road would be shut down and were waiting for TECO representatives to arrive on scene and assess the damage at 10:45 a.m.

Firefighters remaining on scene in the meantime.
