Toys R Us in Bradenton evacuated because of reported smoke
MANATEE -- The Toys R Us store in Bradenton was evacuated Tuesday after smoke was reported in the building.
At 3:38 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to respond to a report of a structure fire at Toys R Us, 512 Cortez Road W., Bradenton.
The building was being evacuated and initial reports were that there was smoke in the building, according to Manatee County Emergency Communications Center.
"It's hard to say at this point what exactly happened. We're not completely sure until we finish our investigation," said Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Gene Brown, who was on scene.
Brown said the fire came from the store manager's office.
Along with Brown's agency, the Bradenton Fire Department and Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District also responded to the reported fire. Manatee County EMS was also on scene.
"It's undetermined at this point," Brown said of the cause of fire.
