8 Sarasota County stores charged with selling alcohol to minors

SARASOTA — Eight convenience store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during an undercover operation Monday and Tuesday by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Alcohol Task Force.

The following businesses were found in violation of selling alcohol to a person under 21: Citgo, 6104 S. Tamiami Trail; Citgo, 4235 Clark Road; Marathon, 1135 Beneva Road; and Mobil, 2745 Beneva Road, all of Sarasota; and Walgreens, 15180 Tamiami Trail, CVS, 14998 Tamiami Trail; Hess, 14807 Tamiami Trail; and Chevron, 13501 Tamiami Trail, all of North Port.

Results are forwarded to the Florida Bureau of Alcohol Beverages and Tobacco, Department of Business & Professional Regulation, which licenses alcohol sales at each establishment.

Another 32 businesses in Sarasota, Osprey, Venice, Nokomis and North Port, were in compliance and will be sent a letter to commend owners and employees for helping reduce the sale of alcohol to minors.
