Fatal shooting investigated in Bradenton; suspect in custody

A man is dead and another person is in police custody following a shooting, officials said Saturday.

Bradenton police officers responded to a home in the 600 block of 25th Avenue West around 6 p.m. after a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound in front of the residence, according to a news release.

Officers provided emergency care to the victim until emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

A suspect was taken into custody at the time of the shooting and was being questioned by members of the Manatee County Homicide Investigation Unit.

Neither the victim nor the suspect was identified by police. No further information was immediately available.
