Child Protective Services investigating mother who overdosed on heroin with 4-year-old in the car

BRADENTON -- A woman who overdosed on heroin with her 4-year-old in the car is being investigated by Child Protective Services, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, emergency medical personnel responded to the 2200 block of Manatee Avenue East and found the woman, who was in the car with her grandfather and her 4-year-old daughter, according to a release.

The woman was stabilized and released from the hospital, police said.

Capt. William Fowler of the Bradenton Police Department wouldn't give more details on the incident, citing an open investigation, but said Child Protective Services had begun its investigation on the woman.
