You’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s so now what? Find out at free EXPO in Bradenton
Parkinson’s disease is a neuro-degenerative disease with no known cure, and a first-time diagnosis and the thought of living with it can be scary.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t levels of quality of life ahead.
If you are a newly diagnosed or existing Parkinson’s patient or the caregiver of a Parkinson’s patient, the Neuro Challenge Foundation will be at the Bradenton Area Convention Center on Feb. 29 for the 2020 Parkinson’s EXPO.
For the past two years, it is has already established itself as the largest Parkinson’s educational forum of its kind and more than 1,500 people are expected to attend for an opportunity to learn from experts, participate in activities and learn about resources for daily living.
“What distinguishes the Parkinson’s EXPO is our comprehensive approach,” said Neuro Challenge CEO Robyn Faucy-Washington in a prepared statement. “The experience of Parkinson’s is different for each person. We want attendees to be able to evaluate a range of choices. Our goal is for each attendee to be able to leave with information that can be applied that same day to live well with Parkinson’s.”
Members of the Sarasota Ballet will be on hand to demonstrate the benefits of Neuro Challenge’s therapeutic movement and dance class, offered in Sarasota and Pinellas counties. Other programs include boxing, pedaling, a YMCA cycling class and other activities that benefit people with Parkinson’s.
Neuro Challenge also will announce an all new educational program.
“It’s a big leap for us and for Parkinson’s education,” Faucy-Washington said. “We’re excited about being able to share more about this ground breaking program this Leap Year Day.”
The event is free and open to the public for people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers. The convention center is located at 1 Haben Blvd, in Palmetto and the event will begin at 9 a.m. and finish around 3 p.m. Doors open at 8 a.m.
Boxed lunches, water and coffee will be provided at no charge.
