Manatee High School students awarded Sertoma scholarships

Ian MacDonald and Kaitlyn Conrad, recent Manatee High School graduates, have received academic and community achievement scholarships from the Sertoma Club of Bradenton.

MacDonald earned a $2,500 scholarship to apply toward Southern Methodist University to study mechanical engineering and offer public service. In high school, MacDonald racked up 1,286 hours of community service.

Conrad received a $2,000 scholarship to apply toward the University of Florida pre-law track. In high school, she had 966 hours of community service.

The awards were presented by Sponsorship Vice President Rich Whetstone and President Gary Reichenbach. Sertoma is the third-oldest civic organization in the United States, founded in 1912. It’s name is an acronym for Service to Mankind. Their motto is: “Make Life Worthwhile.”
