State College of Florida to add honors program

Students at the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota can join a new honors program this fall at the Venice campus.

Successful students will receive an honors program designation on their transcripts, which officials said increases prospects for university transfers and jobs.

To be accepted into the program, students must have one of the following: combined SAT score of at least 1,100 in math and reading, a PERT score of 360 or above, an ACT score of 26 or above or a CPT score of at least 280. SCF Honors expects a minimum high school or college GPA of 3.25, and students must provide two letters of recommendation and a writing sample.

Applications received by July 15 will be given first consideration.
