Manatee County names new principals for Tara, Daughtrey, Stewart, Ballard, Buffalo Creek

MANATEE -- Manatee County School District once again has a full roster of principals, after naming five new principals Monday morning.

New principals, all from the district's existing pool of assistant principals, were announced for Tara Elementary, Ballard Elementary, Stewart Elementary, Daughtrey Elementary and Buffalo Creek Middle School.

"The appointments announced today represent a strong group of dedicated professional educators," said Cynthia Saunders, deputy superintendent of instruction. "We look forward to supporting and encouraging them as they lead each of their respective school communities."

The five who were promoted:

Laura Campbell, assistant

principal at Freedom, will be the principal at Tara.

Mike Masiello, assistant principal at Bayshore Elementary, will be the principal at Ballard.

Joe Hougland, assistant principal at Stewart, will be principal at Stewart.

Ruby Zickafoose, assistant principal at Tillman Elementary, will be the principal at Daughtrey Elementary.

Dustin Dahlquist, assistant principal at Palmetto High School, will be the principal at Buffalo Creek.

The appointments will all be confirmed by the school board at a future meeting. The move fills all the open principal jobs at the district.

The district will be hiring to replace the promoted assistant principals.
