Rowlett Elementary School to honor retiring principal

BRADENTON -- After serving students, parents and the community for 40 years, Brian Flynn, principal of Rowlett Academy of Arts and Communication, is retiring from education.

Flynn was a teacher, then an assistant principal and principal at Palmetto Elementary, Daughtrey Elementary, Braden River Elementary and Wakeland Elementary School. He was selected 16 years ago to open Rowlett Magnet School, which has since become a charter school, Rowlett Academy of Arts and Communication.

All current and former students, parents, staff, administration and the public are invited to an open house on May 7, from 1-4 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Rowlett Academy.

There will be a "farewell broadcast" for Flynn from 2-3 p.m.
