49 students on Manatee County bus involved in Thursday morning accident

BRADENTON -- Almost 50 Manatee County students were on a school bus involved in a traffic accident on Thursday morning.

No one was injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The school bus was traveling south on 18th Street West, approaching Cortez Road, when a 1988 Chevy Lumina came out of a driveway on 18th Street West and struck the buses front left side at approximately 8:40 a.m.

Forty-nine students were on board the bus and no injuries were reported in the accident. The students were from Sugg Middle School and Manatee School for the Arts.

Shakeria Pate, a 25-year-old, was charged with violation of right of way from a drive way, according to FHP.
