Manatee School District to provide free lunches during spring break
MANATEE -- The Manatee County School District will serve free lunches to students during spring break, which runs from March 21 through March 25.
The district's Food and Nutrition Services Mobile Feeding Bus will deliver the meals to three stops, rain or shine:
-- Daughtrey Elementary School, 515 63rd Ave. E., Bradenton, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
-- Bradenton Village Apartments, 1302 Third St. W., Bradenton, from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Lincoln Park, 501 17th St. E., Palmetto, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The free meals are not based on income status. They are part of a USDA program designed to ensure that children have access to nutrition during the time when school lunches are not available.
The free lunches will include school menu items such as chicken sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and pizza along with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. The bus will have indoor and outdoor seating to allow kids to enjoy their meal in comfort of air conditioning or in the shade of an awning.
