2 Manatee County middle schools get new principals
MANATEE -- Two Manatee County School District middle schools have new principals.
Angela Lindsey is the new principal at Louise R. Johnson Middle School and Rosa Daughtry is the new principal at W.D. Sugg Middle School, according to a news release from the school district.
Lindsey and Daughtry had been serving as interim principals at the respective campuses, while the district conducted a formal hiring process.
The principals will formally be approved by the Manatee County School Board at an upcoming meeting.
Lindsey replaces Carl Auckerman, who moved to a district-level position in October.
Daughtry replaces Darlene Proue, who was moved from the Sugg principal job to an assistant principal job at Southeast High School in October.
A graduate of Southeast High School, Lindsey worked as an assistant principal at Johnson Middle School for two years before being named the interim principalin 2015. Before coming to Johnson Middle, Lindsey was the principal at Daughtrey Elementary and an assistant principal at Haile Middle School. She started her career with the district in 1986 as a math teacher at Sugg Middle and the math department chairwoman at Braden River Middle School.
Before her time at Sugg Middle, Daughtry had been an assistant principal at Southeast High School from 2009 to 2015. She also has worked as a paraprofessional and teacher at schools in Tampa and Sarasota.
