Manatee County School bus involved in accident Monday morning

MANATEE -- A Manatee County School District bus driver was sent to Blake Medical Center with minor injuries after a Monday morning crash.

No students were on the bus at the time of the incident, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 9:10 a.m., a semi-trailer traveling westbound on the driveway access of Laundry Plus on 15th Street East turned left from the driveway access onto 15th Street East and failed to yield the right of way to a Manatee County school bus traveling north on 15th Street East, according to FHP. The bus driver was unable to avoid contact with the truck.

The semi driver was charged with failing to yield to oncoming traffic from a driveway access. The semi driver was not injured.

The school bus driver reported minor injuries and was sent to Blake Medical Center, according to the report.

Manatee County School District spokesman Mike Barber could not immediately be reached.
