Two students take top marks in Manatee science, engineering fair

BRADENTON -- A total of 17 first-place winners were recently selected by judges to represent Manatee County at the 61st Annual State Science and Engineering Fair later this spring.

Two students -- Anna Zimmerman of Braden River High and Jason Edelkind of Manatee High -- were selected by judges as the Best of Show winners. Anna and Jason each received a $250 Savings Bond, an Orion Spacecraft replica from Lockheed Martin and will represent Manatee County at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona, May 8-13, 2016.

The 17 first-place winners will compete in Lakeland from March 29-31. Lockheed Martin sponsors the Manatee event.
