Manatee County School District Excellence in Education finalists
MANATEE -- On Thursday and Friday, Manatee County School District officials surprised eight finalists for the Excellence in Education Awards, which honors top educators and support staff members.
The winners will be announced during a ceremonyat 7 p.m. March 2 at Manatee Technical College's main campus.
Finalists names, positions and work sites include:
EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
Deborah Miele, math teacher at King Middle School
Kari Stanley, fifth-grade teacher at Miller Elementary
Mary Anne Maginot, math teacher at Nolan Middle School
Rebecca Rouse, AVID/ILA reading teacher at Southeast High School
SUPPORT EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
Jerry Craft, technology teacher assistant/lab manager at Prine Elementary School
Tina Lundy, project assistant with Department of Capital Projects, Matzke Complex
Cheryl Smith, clerical secretary/receptionist at Mills Elementary School
Suzanne Theiss, senior school secretary at Southeast High School
