ONECO -- Students, parents and staff from Oneco Elementary School began assembling Blankets for Veterans just before the holiday break.

Some of the Oneco Elementary students are part of a club called NUBS (Never Underestimate Brave Students) sponsored by the local Elks. They are making dozens of no-sew, fleece blankets as a service project.

The blankets will be presented to Veterans from Bay Pines VA Healthcare System on December 3rd at 3:30 p.m, at Oneco Elementary, 5214 22nd St. Ct. E, Bradenton.

During a reception, students at Oneco Elementary will also serve the Veterans a meal. This is the third year that the school has participated in the project.
