8 Braden River Elementary students chosen for state performances
BRADEN RIVER -- Eight Braden River Elementary School students will perform in one of two All-State elementary music ensembles, after 800 students auditioned for spots.
The students selected for the All-State Elementary Chorus are: Alex den Boggende, Olivia Garland, and Mia Merrell. The students selected for the All-State Orff Ensemble are: Aidan Collins, Julissa Garabito, Daylin Sciarrone, Hope Tudor, and Roxane Dubé.
These students will perform with the FMEA All-State Elementary Chorus or Orff Ensemble in Tampa, January 14 or 15, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center.
The school's teacher, David Katz, is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association and the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association. Elementary school students in 4th and 5th grades are eligible to audition. The 17th FMEA All-State Elementary Chorus will be under the direction of Don Ester. Two hundred elementary singers will perform with the FMEA All-State Elementary Chorus at the Tampa Convention Center January 14 at 1:45 p.m.
The inaugural performance of the first All-State Orff Ensemble will take place at the Tampa Convention Center January 15 at 1:30 PM. This new ensemble provides opportunities for elementary musicians to showcase standards-based music skills and techniques -- such as instrumental performance, movement/dance, improvisation, and singing.
