State College of Florida receives scholarship money for veterans

BRADENTON -- Officers from American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 in Venice have put nearly $10,000 toward a new scholarship at State College of Florida to help veterans get an education.

Officers recently presented William Graydon, advisor of veterans services at the Venice campus of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, with a check for $9,706 to help fund SCF's first scholarships for veterans.

The contribution, generated by the post's Veterans Golf Open on Oct. 24, will complete the endowment of the SCF Foundation Veterans' Scholarship Fund and establish the American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 Remedial Education Fund for veterans enrolled at SCF Venice.
