School district names four new principals
MANATEE -- Four new principals are expected to be appointed to Manatee elementary schools, at the recommendation of Superintendent Diana Greene. The changes are not final until approved by the Manatee County School Board.
Cheryl McGrew will take over as principal at McNeal Elementary School, replacing retiring principal Norma Scott. McGrew has been an assistant at Sea Breeze Elementary since 2011. She taught at McNeal from 2002 to 2011.
Greg Sander will take over as principal at Sea Breeze Elementary School, replacing Shirin Gibson, who is moving to another school. Sander has been an assistant at Wakeland Elementary School since 2013, and was an assistant principal at Orange Ridge-Bullock Elementary from 2010 to 2013.
Shirin Gibson will take over as principal at Gullett Elementary, replacing retiring principal Kathy McLean. Gibson was principal at Sea Breeze for a year and was principal at Tillman Elementary School for seven years.
Scott Boyes will take over as principal at Miller Elementary School, replacing Barry Dunn, who is moving to a school in Sarasota County. Boyes has been principal at Palma Sola Elementary School for four years. Before that he was principal at Samoset Elementary School for eight years.
This leaves at least one elementary principal position open, at Palma Sola, where Boyes worked.
