Manatee School District announces new principals, assistant principals and directors

The School District of Manatee County has announced more than a dozen promotions, transfers and principal appointments for the upcoming school year.

All of the positions will take effect on July 1, according to a news release.

New principals

The district promoted five assistant principals to the role of principal.

  • Ginger Collins, an assistant principal at Southeast High School since 2018, will serve as the principal of Lee Middle School. She previously worked as an assistant principal at Bayshore High School for eight years, and she worked as a teacher at Palmetto High School and Haile Middle School for a total of 12 years.
  • Debra Riley, the assistant principal at Mills Elementary School since 2015, will serve as the principal of Miller Elementary School. She previously worked as the student support specialist at her current school, and she worked as a teacher at Mills, Palma Sola and Palmetto elementary schools.
  • Billie-Jo Fintel, the assistant principal at Willis Elementary since 2016, will serve as the principal of Palmetto Elementary School. She has experience as an instructional specialist, and she previously worked as a teacher in various schools.
  • Samantha Webb, the assistant principal at Samoset Elementary since August 2016, will serve as the principal of Abel Elementary School. She also worked at Braden River Elementary as the assistant principal, and at Ballard Elementary as a teacher.
  • Nicole Williams, an assistant principal at Rogers Garden-Bullock Elementary since 2018, will serve as the principal of Oneco Elementary School. She previously served as the assistant principal at Williams Elementary, and she has experience as a student support specialist and a teacher at several Manatee County schools.

Principal and assistant principal transfers

  • Scott Cooper, the principal at Lee Middle School since 2014, will serve as the principal of Nolan Middle School. He previously worked as the principal of Buffalo Creek Middle School, and as the assistant principal at Bayshore and Southeast high schools.
  • Aliki Bovoletis, an assistant principal at Johnson K-8 School since 2015, will serve as the assistant principal at Mills Elementary School.
  • Terra Brown, an assistant principal at Ballard Elementary School since 2014, will serve as the assistant principal at Bashaw Elementary School.
  • Michelle Clark, an assistant principal Nolan Middle School since 2016, will serve as an assistant principal at Palm View K-8 School.
  • Beth Marshall, the assistant principal at Bashaw Elementary School since 2012, will serve as the assistant principal at Samoset Elementary School.
  • Randy Stowers, an assistant principal at Daughtrey Elementary School since 2019, will serve as the assistant principal at Rogers Garden-Bullock Elementary.

Administrative promotions

  • Evan McCarthy, a senior statistical data analyst, was promoted to director of assessment, accountability and research for the school district, where he worked for the last five years.
  • Vince Hoaglin, the supervisor of network services, was promoted to director of infrastructure services for the school district, where he worked for the last 29 years.
  • Steven Wright, the director of infrastructure services, was promoted to director of site support services for the school district, where he worked for the last 33 years.
