University of South Florida’s Stone throws pitch at Rays game
Although she hasn’t played organized sports since high school, University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s chancellor Sandra Stone threw out the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays game Saturday.
Stone’s pitch happened during the USF Night at Tropicana Field, with the Rays playing the Yankees. Discounted seats were offered to USF alumni, and a portion of each seat sold benefited the alumni association.
In high school, Stone played on the girls’ basketball team and in sixth grade, she was on the softball team. She also practices yoga, and hoped that’d help her with the pitch.
