Out-of-Door Academy in Lakewood Ranch to host cyberbullying seminar

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Out-of-Door Academy will host a seminar and discussion on cyberbullying Tuesday night, school officials announced Tuesday.

The session is meant to help raise awareness about cyberbullying in both Manatee and Sarasota County.

Beginning at 7 p.m. in the Savidge-Bowers Library at the Lakewood Ranch campus, Florida Atlantic University Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Founder of the Cyberbullying Research Center, Sameer Hinduja, will facilitate the discussion.

Hinduja is an expert on adolescent use of technology, including Cyberbullying, social networking, and online safety, according to officials. The Cyberbullying Research Center is dedicated to providing up-to-date information about the nature, extent, causes and consequences of cyberbullying.
