Suspected heroin dealer charged with trafficking in Bradenton
A suspected heroin dealer was arrested Thursday and charged with trafficking, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Michael Monix was arrested Thursday and charged with trafficking in heroin and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $25,500.
At about 2 p.m., police, having obtained a search warrant, searched Monix’s home in the 2500 block of 8th Avenue Drive East in Bradenton, according to an arrest report. Monix was home at the time of the search and taken into custody.
Monix reportedly told police that he had a gun hidden under his mattress in his bedroom. When police searched the room, they found two guns under the mattress and one under the dresser.
Under the bed inside a safe, police also found three bags of heroin weighing 20 grams in total, according to the report. Inside a dresser drawer, they found an Altoids tin containing several baggies of heroin weighing 5.6 grams in total. A scale and other drug paraphenilia were also seized from the home.
