Purse, diary lead cops to vehicle burglary suspect in Manatee
A 19-year-old woman left her purse and diary in a vehicle that she allegedly was burglarizing, leading to her arrest shortly after midnight Sunday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Kiana Agosto is facing a burglary charge after deputies say she entered a pickup parked in the 200 block of 63rd Drive East.
When deputies arrived, the vehicle’s owner and two friends had Agosto detained, the report said. The owner and his friends had just returned home and saw that a door of the vehicle door was open.
The owner discovered an unknown female’s purse and diary on the driver’s seat, and the vehicle appeared to have been rummaged through, the report said.
The suspect was then observed walking outside the victim’s residence, and authorities were summoned. Agosto told investigators that she didn’t know anything about the burglary, even though the purse found in the victim’s truck contained her identification and diary.
The victim said nothing was missing from his truck, and it appears the suspect was interrupted before completing her search, the report said.
Agosto was charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and jailed under $2,000 bond.
