A Bradenton man was charged Friday with four counts of DUI after a morning crash, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

At approximately 8 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of 10th Street and Central Avenue, Sarasota, for a three-vehicle crash involving a vehicle, tow truck and 18-wheeler. According to a report, 37-year-old Michael Aprill was driving a tow truck westbound on 10th Street when it rear ended a green Toyota. The Toyota crashed into a nearby cement pole. Police said the Toyota driver was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the report, the tow truck continued westbound on 10th Street and then rear-ended an 18-wheeler. During the crashes, diesel fuel was leaked from the tow truck, causing the westbound lanes of 10th Street to be closed for about an hour.

Police said Aprill had two warrants for uttering a forged instrument (fraud). Aprill was arrested and charged with three counts of DUI with property damage, one count of DUI personal injury and received a citation for driving with a license suspended without knowledge.

Aprill is currently being processed at the Sarasota County Jail, police said. Aprill was being held without bond, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website.
