Detectives haven’t received help from Bradenton residents in New Year’s Day double slaying
Detectives say despite the offer of reward money, they have not received a single tip or lead in the fatal shooting of a Bradenton couple dead early New Year’s Day.
Just after 5 a.m. New Year’s Day, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 5700 block of 11th Street East in Bradenton after receiving a 911 call from a relative who found Demetrius Robinson, 37, and his girlfriend, Florence Randall, 31, shot to death in a triplex.
Detectives say they believe the couple was targeted, but a motive has not been identified.
“As of today's date we have not received one tip or one lead,” said Detective Darryl Davis, the lead detective from the Manatee County Homicide Investigative Unit on the case. “Somebody out here knows what happen.”
Davis thought rewards offered in the case months ago by Gold Star Club of Manatee County Inc. and Crime Stoppers of Manatee County would have helped bring in some information.
Shockingly, and to Davis’ frustration, it didn’t lead to one bit of information.
Gold Star continues to offer up to $10,000 and Crimestoppers up to $3,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
“There's a killer out there walking free,” Davis said.
No arrests have been made in connection to another fatal shooting that occurred on New Year’s Day in Bradenton.
Between 12:45 p.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 1, deputies found Julio Tellez, 26, shot to death when they were called to the 500 block of 60th Avenue Terrace West, Bradenton. A second person was injured in the apparent shootout.
Detectives later identified Mario Alejandro De La Rosa Alvarez as a person of interest in the case, after a possible suspect vehicle in Tellez's fatal shooting was found burned. He is also wanted in connection with that arson.
Anyone with information on either case can call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2519, or to remain anonymous and eligible for a cash reward call Crimestoppers at 866-634-TIPS or submit an e-tip online at manateecrimestoppers.com.
