Thief uses tow truck to steal Infiniti from Sarasota home

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is looking for a thief who used a tow truck to steal a vehicle from a home in Sarasota.

On May 8, deputies responded to the 4800 block of Andrew Avenue to reports of a stolen vehicle, according to a news release. A 2006 blue Infiniti sedan with license plate 7717GK was confirmed stolen.

Detectives obtained surveillance video from the property showing someone in a dark-colored tow truck arriving at 3:08 a.m., quickly backing into a driveway, lifting the victim's vehicle and fleeing in under 15 seconds.

Detectives confirmed the owner of the Infiniti was not facing repossession at the time the car was taken, the release states.
