Sarasota sheriff’s office says fatal shooting was a homicide

Investigators say the fatal shooting of a man found Tuesday in his front yard in Sarasota is a homicide, according to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday, deputies called to a home in the 2400 block of 47th Street in Sarasota found David Morse, 48, shot dead in the front yard.

On Thursday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said Morse’s death has officially been classified a homicide, according to an updated news release.

The investigation remains ongoing and the sheriff’s office is not releasing any additional details now.
