Terra Ceia man, 22, dies in crash on County Road 675
PARRISH -- A 22-year-old Terra Ceia man was killed early Sunday morning after he lost control of his vehicle on County Road 675 just south of 161st Avenue East, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Scott Alexander died in the 12 a.m. crash, and his 22-year-old female passenger from Pine Knot, Ky., sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment.
Authorities were still investigating Sunday whether alcohol was a factor. The FHP said seat belts were not in use.
According to the FHP report, the vehicle was traveling northbound on C.R. 675 when it left the roadway and traveled onto the a grass shoulder.
Alexander over-corrected as he attempted to steer back onto the roadway, and the vehicle overturned and struck a wooden fence and then a barbed-wire fence before it came to final rest, the FHP report said.
