BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man was charged Friday with attempted felony murder after officers said he stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Alexander Douglas Martinez-Ulloa, 30, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 5700 block of 22nd Street West in Bradenton. According to a report, officers were dispatched to Blake Medical Center that day in reference to an aggravated battery domestic call. The female victim, who is Martinez-Ulloa's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child, told police that she was sleeping in her apartment in the 1900 block of 5th Street West in Bradenton with her new boyfriend who she has been dating for a week when Martinez-Ulloa entered the home and attacked both of them with a knife. The victim said she woke up and saw Martinez-Ulloa on top of her boyfriend, stabbing him with a knife, according to the report.

The victim was scared so she ran out of the apartment to call 911, police said. At this time, Martinez-Ulloa exited the apartment and began chasing after her. Police said Martinez-Ulloa caught her at the top of the staircase and pushed her down the stairs. He then came to the bottom of the stairs, where the victim was trying to get up. Police said that's when he punched the victim in the face several times, knocking her back to the ground.

Martinez-Ulloa began to kick her in the stomach and body, the victim told police. The victim also had a stab wound in her left arm and body but could not remember exactly when it occurred during the attack, according to the report.

According to the other victim, he was sleeping with his new girlfriend when he woke up and an unknown male was standing above him, stabbing him with a knife. The victim said he tried to grab the knife and it broke after he was stabbed approximately five times in the neck, back, side and stomach.

According to police, the male victim said Martinez-Ulloa grabbed a lamp that was on the night stand and struck him in the head. Martinez-Ulloa then ran out of the bedroom to chase after the victim's new girlfriend.

A controlled phone call was done between Martinez-Ulloa and the female victim, according to the report. Martinez-Ulloa admitted on the call that he tried to kill both the female victim and her boyfriend. The female victim told police that Martinez-Ulloa had moved out of her apartment a week ago and returned the key. According to police, the victim also said that Martinez-Ulloa has no property inside the apartment and was not given permission to go in the apartment.

Both victims received medical attention for their injuries, the report states. The female victim also received medical attention to her face from being struck several times by Martinez-Ulloa, police said.

The victims told police that they were not sure who shot guns but several spent shells were found on the ground, according to the report. The female victim said she heard the gunfire but did not see who was shooting, and the male victim said he has no idea who was shooting the gun. Martinez-Ulloa told police that the male victim was the person shooting the gun at him, according to the report.

After he was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted felony murder and burglary with assault, Martinez-Ulloa told police he still lives at the apartment and he entered with a key.

He said he came home and was angry when he saw his girlfriend with another man, according to the report.

Martinez-Ulloa said he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the male victim one time and then the victim started shooting at him. He also told police that he only pushed the female victim because she was in the way when he was running from the man shooting him.

Martinez-Ulloa was being held on bonds totaling $1,100,000, according to the sheriff's office website.
