Sarasota deputies hunt for man who crashed car into 7-Eleven

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash and searching for a Tampa man suspected of running from the scene of an accident at 6:18 p.m. Saturday at a 7-Eleven, 3156 Clark Road.

Deputies reportedly attempted to pull over the vehicle, which did not stop until crashing into the fuel pumps at the 7-Eleven.

The 6-foot, 150-pound suspect, Maurice A. Betard, 28, 4306 North 36th St., Tampa, was last seen running from the crash wearing white tank top and black shorts, according to the report. He has not been found.

The suspect is wanted for fleeing to elude law enforcement, leaving the scene of an accident with great bodily injury, and possible additional charges, according to the report.
