Woman shot in Sarasota

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 1:28 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Sanford Circle in Sarasota.

The Public Safety Communications Center received a call indicating a 22-year-old female had been shot, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Kaitlyn R. Johnston. Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded and the victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

"At this time, the extent of her injuries are unknown," Johnson wrote. "All parties thought to be involved have been accounted for."

Additional information will be released as it becomes available, the sheriff's office said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
