Sarasota police find missing 86-year-old man

Officers with the Sarasota Police Department found a missing, endangered man Wednesday evening after a few tense hours.

Pedro Ruperto, 86, was found safe near 23rd Street and North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, according to police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge.

"Someone saw a post on social media and called dispatch," she wrote. "Mr. Ruperto is safe and unharmed and being taken back home."

Ruperto suffers from a medical condition and was last seen at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of Greenbriar Street, Sarasota.
