Deputies working to pull vehicle out of Sarasota pond

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is working to pull a vehicle out of a retention pond near Nathan Benderson Park.

According to sheriff's office spokeswoman Kaitlyn Johnston, deputies received a call about the vehicle in the water at 2:57 p.m. Wednesday. The pond where the vehicle is in is located just south of Nathan Benderson Park.

"At this time, no rescue efforts are being made as no witnesses actually saw the vehicle drop into the lake," she said. "The caller indicated that it may have happened some time ago."
