Manatee Sheriff: Bradenton woman charged with trying to run over man with vehicle
MANATEE -- A Bradenton woman has been charged with trying to run over a man with her vehicle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Shaquya D. Stanford, 30, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of 50th Avenue Plaza West.
Stanford and the victim, who do not know one another, got into a verbal altercation at a discount store, deputies said. According to a report, Stanford then followed the victim to Pictown Trailer Park, where the victim resides.
Deputies said the victim was on a bicycle, and when he dropped it off at a trailer, Stanford sped up to him and began yelling. The victim fled on foot as Stanford continued to pursue him east on 50th Avenue Plaza West.
That's when witnesses say Stanford swerved twice at the victim to try to hit him with her vehicle. According to the sheriff's office, the victim sustained a tire scrape on his leg. The victim told deputies his heel was also run over.
Stanford was charged with aggravated assault. She was held in Manatee County jail on $5,000 bond.
